All-encompassing solutions to our planets most complex issues are rare or non-existent. Of particular interest is my interview with Dr. Ernest Thiessen, President of ican Systems and inventor of an e-negotiation system called ” Smartsettle”.  Until now, his invention has gone largely unnoticed, due to the lack of marketing funding for his invention.  Professor Emeritus, Howard Raiffa ( and author of ” Art & Science Of Negotiation”)  of Harvard University has been quoted as preferring Dr. Thiessen’s algorithm (which is the essence of Smartsettle)  to that of Nobel Laureate John Nash, who you may remember as being featured in the movie ” A Beautiful Mind” .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Dr. Thiessen has recently taught a Water Conflict Management Course at UNESCO (in the Netherlands), his invention has been the topic of United Nations keynote speeches , successfully performed a simulated conflict resolution among Iraq, Turkey and Syria in the Tigris-Euphrates water system, and was also part of a team that won the “UNESCO Blue Planet Prize” in 2005 for negotiating a complex water-rights settlement between his Majesty’s government of Nepal and the people of Nepal…..Dr. Thiessen’s organization is now seeking involvement in the Nile Basin Initiative.                                                                                                                                                                             In our recent podcast, Dr. Thiessen had indicated that if Smartsettle would have been used in the complex negotiations at Copenhagen, there would have very likely been a settlement that would have satisfied the vast majority of stakeholders, leaving nothing on the table.  With the complex issues that our world now faces (and with no clear solutions in sight),     Smartsettle will very likely become the only negotiating tool that is powerful enough to handle complex negotiations such as International Water rights negotiations, Climate change and Nuclear Disarmament .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 A seminar featuring Dr. Thiessen’s invention will take place on May 15, 2010 at Simon Fraser University   Campus in Surrey, B.C. (Room 5240).   He will be presenting a demonstration of his powerful invention at the seminar, as well as discuss it’s key components and vast applications. Although it is an investment seminar, I believe that this event will catapult his invention into worldwide usage, and bring vast optimism to a world that presently lacks the ability to negotiate global settlements.   Here is the link to the event:              http://www.smartsettle.com/tmp/flyer_may_2010_web.pdf                                                                                                    For more info, please go to :  www.smartsettle.com
