  Project Blue is the Roots & Shoots Canada 2009 national water campaign. The purpose of Project Blue is to encourage Roots & Shoots groups to focus their projects on water-related issues and take part in coordinated activities and events. In doing so, groups’ projects will be united around a common theme in order to increase their impact. This website is intended to be a hub for all things water. We encourage Roots & Shoots members to use the site to connect with other groups and organizations working on water issues across Canada.

  Project Blue aims to:

  • Educate youth on contemporary water issues
  • Support youth in taking action on water issues
  • Mobilize youth to increase the impact of their activities
  • Empower youth to increase awareness and understanding of the global water crisis

• About World Water Forum

  The first World Water Forum was held in Marrakech, Morocco, in 1997. The Forum is organized every three years by the World Water Concil, in close collaboration with authorities of the hosting country. It is the largest international event in the field of water, primarily serving four main purposes:

  • To raise the importance of water on the political agenda
  • To support the deepening of discussions towards the solution of international water issues in the 21st century
  • To formulate concrete proposals and bring their importance to the world’s attention
  • To generate political commitment

  Successive World Water Forums have served as stepping-stones towards global collaboration on water problems and have offered the water community and global decision-makers the unique opportunity to make recommendations for ensuring the security of water resources in the different parts of the world.
