Founded in 1949, the Irrigation Association (IA) is a leading membership organization for irrigation equipment and system manufacturers, dealers, distributors, designers, consultants, contractors and end users. The organization is dedicated to promoting efficient irrigation to its members and the irrigation industry through continuing education and educating the public on sound practices and water management, serving as a centralized clearing house for research and innovation and lending expertise to water-use public policy at the local, state, regional and national level to name a few. Event: East Asian Seas Congress November 2009
The East Asian Seas Congress is a pioneering region-wide platform for various groups all across the globe to come together to share knowledge/experiences and engage in dynamic discussions regarding trends, issues and concerns related to coastal and ocean governance.
The EAS Congress 2009 will be hosted by the Government of the Philippines through the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). It is being organized by the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA) and DENR and supported by the Global Environment Facility, United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Office for Project Services and Coastal Management Center. Event: Africa Water Week Convention
The 2nd Africa Water Week and Conference was held this past Nov 9-13th at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg South Aftrica.
This event’s main focus is the implementation, unity and partnership of African countries and UN agencies, civil society groups, the private Sector and development cooperation partners, to address the critical issue of water and sanitation, which is a key to sustainable development on the continent. In addition, it is in direct response to the Sharm El Sheikh Commitments on water and sanitation adopted by the African union Heads of state and Government. Water Drops podcast series by Dr. Black
Since January 2006, Dr. Peter E. Black has been creating and recording a series of broadcasts, called Water Drops. These two-minute, self-contained essays are on the science, hydrology, culture, history, policy, law, government and organizations involved with water.
Dr. Black is professor at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. To date over 133 Water Drops episodes have been produced. They are posted and available on the Public Radio Exchange link below.
